Notes:

Dallas has a strong appreciation for the arts and nowhere is that commitment more evident than in Big D’s growing arts district. A world-class addition to the Dallas Arts District the Nasher Sculpture Center has recently opened to the public. The Center features the private collection of Patsy and Raymond Nasher–one of the foremost important collections in private or public hands today. 19th Century masters such as Auguste Rodin Edgar Degas and Paul Gauguin are housed with such notable sculptors as Pablo Picasso Henri Matisse Alberto Giacometti Henry Moore Alexander Calder and many more.

The Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) is home to a spectacular collection of more than 14000 works ranging from Pre-Columbian and African to Post-WWII American works. The DMA has commissioned major works of its own highlighted by Claus Oldenburg’s "Stake Hitch" a giant stake hammered into the floor of the DMA’s 40-foot barrel vault interior. The museum also holds significant works in 19th-Century and Early Modern European paintings 18th and 19th-Century American paintings and non-European textiles drawings and photographs.
